Day eight...Final Thoughts / Paris to Amsterdam

We awoke this morning by chance, did not have a working alarm, at 8:50 am. Check out was 9:30 am to allow the maid to come and clean the apartment for the next coming guest. We were out by 10 am walked down the rue Martyrs to the Metro station, taking us to the train station. Arriving at the train station, the trains and local suburban trains all parked within the terminal itself. At first this was quite interesting, then I realized there is really no where to escape the morning Paris chill as the wind rolled into the terminal. Burr!!!! We did found a little café that was enclosed so that we escape, but there were no heaters inside. Had a little lunch and then few moments later boarded our train. Boarding the train, was an experience in it self, there was an older gentlemen who I guess you could say was not all there. We were fortunate enough to get a cabin with five other people, well the gentlemen was in another ladies seat and was not moving. Did not matter what her ticket stated, he became quite belligerent and was screaming at her and the lady that was sitting beside him. Eventually he lost the battle and moved. Yet he sits outside our cabin waiting to get back in. There is another seat but the lady sitting in front of us is not about to let him sit there. She stated she will lay down and fall asleep if she has to, hooray for her.

This train bound for Amsterdam is flying. I have read and heard about how the Europeans have the transportation system down. Within Paris the local Metro system is even better than the NYC subway, which by the way I have always been quite impressed with. Our Amtrash as Jerome likes to call it has a lot of improvement, and I hope the interest and studies that our country is doing on the high speed rail system becomes a reality.

We have ended our journey in Paris, seven days and several thousand steps later we are now headed to Amsterdam. I have many thoughts and opinions about the wonderful city of Paris, the capital of France. Al-x and I have been to many large cities within the United States. Every one of them being a very masculine city, Paris is a very feminine city with a romantic appeal. Spectacular views from a bridge, from a top in the Montmartre district, the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame. There is so much to see and do, and the seven days that we spent in Paris, we maybe experienced a fourth of what Paris is and about. Our last dinner in Paris was with Jerome and Fabrice, two guys that we can officially call our friends. They have introduced us to popular French artist, to the one of the best views I have seen in Paris. Unfortunately, that was the day that I left my camera at the apartment. We have walked away with two new friends, lots of pictures and many wonderful memories. Most of all, this part was just the beginning. Aur Vouir.

P.S. Al-x has stated the he does not snore as much as I stated before. How would he know, he was the one sleeping. ;)
