Day 11...A day to walk around
Waking up late, we headed out to visit the Homomonument, a memorial created to honor and remember those gay and lesbians that were also persecuted during the holocaust. There are three triangles where each one makes up the point for the large triangle. It was quite interesting to see such a monument that was built and displayed for the world to see. It is deemed to be the worlds only monument, but that I do not know for sure. I can only tell you what I read to hear.
Hopped on the tram and headed to the Artis Zoo, mind you it is still bitter cold, but figured it can not be all the bad. Arriving their version of a zoo looked like San Jose Happy Hallow, we looked at each other and said “yeah maybe not”. Oh well, just another reason to go shop. Found a street market filled with all kinds of stuff, from clothes to spices to toiletries. The spice shop has so many different spices, the only problem was they were in Dutch so I was not quite sure what to choose from. Some I could make out, but how much basil and oregano do I really need?
We mostly walked around today found a leg in the canal (see pic below). What is up with that, I bet there is a story of betrayal, sex of the darkest kind and unfathomable ending. Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha, just kidding, it appears to be a doll or mannequins leg. But you were all into the blog, were you not? Later we decided to take in a movie. Heartbreak Kid with Ben and George Stiller. It was pretty funny, however I do not think that it is Bens best comedy as it was billed before we left the states. We are making this an early night as we are getting up early to catch our train to Germany.
