Today we headed out to Versailles, found a train that was actually running. A local helped us get on the right train. We got on the train, however the conductor stated "no this is not going to Versailles" well it was to late, the doors closed. Got off a couple stops later and boarded the correct train. The trip only last 30 minutes, during which we met a couple from Philadelphia. They had spent two weeks in southern France. We talked about Paris, Parisians and Rugby, that's right Rugby. Luckily they knew nothing about it either. They asked now long we have been in Paris and where we were going next. Told them Amsterdam and Germany, once I stated Germany their friend said that Germany was going on strike as well. I just looked at him with a blank stair of panic. What!!!! Well, I would just have to check later on.
We arrived in Versailles, and short walk we are at the estate. From the front it looks pretty big, however once we entered the gardens, this place goes on for several acres. We bought the passport that allowed us access into the castle as well as Marie Antoinette's Estate and Petit Trianon. Because this place is so big, we walked through the gardens and headed over to Petit Trianon and Marie Antoinette's Estate. Never made it into the castle it self. Most disappointed but just another reason to go back.
After we left Versaille, we headed back and had dinner with Jerome and Frabrice (his partner). Jerome had a foie gras burger and so Alx tried it, and did not like it. The flavor itself was ok, but Alx is a texture person and it does have a weird texture. Afterwards and walked around with their cocker spaniel Broadway. Broadway is a blue cocker spaniel. The colors being white and black, but the way they mix he looks blue. Walked through the area where established fashion designers have their stores. Walked by Miss Coco Chanels main house, looking at her window displays I think she was drunk, poor thing. Found the US Embassy and where the French President, Nicholas Sarkozy, lives. By himself mind you, his wife left him due to an affair. It is all over the scandal sheets. We came upon the back door of the Ritz where the late Princess Diana tried to escape the paparazzi moments before her fatal car crash. Afterwards we said by to the boys and headed home.
