Day 14...Top of the mountain

The sun was out today making it a perfect day to go to the top of mountain. A fifteen minute walk to the gondola and realized we have no cash. I left my ATM at the hotel and Alx never carries his. Back to the hotel we go, drop off the scarves, gloves and jackets/sweaters, since the sun was out we did not need them. Headed back to the gondola after getting cash and up we went. You do not pay until you arrive, which was really weird, so I can see if you did not have cash they would just send you right back. On the way up we noticed what looked like a slide, thinking that it was used during the winter. No, that was one of three ways to get back down to the bottom. Either you took an individual bobsled or rodelbahn as they call it, the gondola or walked.

The view from the top was breath taking, with the sun being out the lake reflected the surrounding mountains and Schliersee below. We had a light lunch out in the beer garden with views from everywhere. There was a swimming pool, trampoline, playground, mini golf, hiking trails, carnival like arcade games and a hotel. It was pretty cool to see, pretty much a resort. After lunch we hiked through the trails, most of the trails being gravel roads as there is logging up there. Time to head down so we chose the bobsled, at first a little nervous as the slide is pretty steep with several straight aways and of course the sharp turns. There are barriers at the sharp turns so that you do not fall out along with huge pads on the trees so if you did fall out you would not pull a Sonny Bono and hit the tree head on. Freaking awesome, loved it, loved it, loved it. So wanted to do it again.

We walked through town a bit as stores and shops were open. Went inside a sports shop, the ski clothes were way expensive. I found this one jacket, it was five hundred Euro, just a simple jacket nothing special about it. I know that most ski clothes are expensive, but that was craziness. Headed back, used the Jacuzzi, sauna and I did some laps in the pool once all the screaming kids got out. Tonight is an early night, tomorrow we are headed to Dachau Concentration Camp.
